Our journey began with a simple, yet ambitious vision: to redefine the boundaries of visual discovery.
The Avataar founders, Sravanth Aluru and Gaurav Baid have always had and unyielding fascination with the potential of technology to transform the customer experience. In 2014, they saw a big opportunity in the merchandising and visual discovery space, which hadn’t benefited from any major innovations in decades. They developed a collective passion deeply rooted in the belief in the transformative power of AI, computer vision, and spatial computing, and now we are driven to lead in the efforts to erase the lines between the digital and the tangible, pioneering a future where visual discovery transcends the expected.
As we stand on the threshold of the immersive tech era, Avataar dreams of being at the heart of a vibrant ecosystem, a nexus of creativity and demand for visual content. Our goal is audacious: to mainstream convincingly-real visual discovery, transforming online consumer interactions and seamlessly bridging the gap between the digital and the physical. Sravanth Aluru, CEO
A technology enthusiast and lifelong learner, Sravanth founded Avataar in 2014 to explore the potential of self-learning AI and Computer Vision. He believes that advancements in computer vision and AI can revolutionize visual discovery for consumers and businesses globally.
An engineer at heart, Sravanth began his career as a Program Manager at Microsoft, where he experienced the power of AI and Computer Vision. After earning his MBA from Wharton, he worked as an Investment Banker on Wall Street, advising tech entrepreneurs on mergers, acquisitions, and IPOs worth over $100 billion.
Sravanth holds an engineering degree from IIT Bombay and is a lead inventor on 10+ US patents in AI, Computer Vision, and data transmission optimization. When not focusing on Avataar's future, he enjoys spending time with his family, believing every moment is a learning experience.

Gaurav Baid, CPO
Gaurav is a passionate student of consumer behavior and an adventurous entrepreneur. At Avataar, he uses 3D Computer Vision and AI to enhance visual experiences and transform product discovery.
In his entrepreneurial journey at Avataar, Gaurav has set out to deliver meaningful & delightful enhancements to visual experiences by deploying 3D Computer Vision and AI technological advancements. He believes that the way in which end consumers are discovering products today will undergo a massive transformation with software and hardware evolutions. His passion for the consumer tech space started with his role as a tech investment banker at Deutsche Bank.
Gaurav excels in ideation, product management, and integration architect. He holds a CA degree and an MBA from FMS. Outside work, he enjoys football and exploring new cultures.

Jane Rawnsley, SVP — Creative AI
Jane is a seasoned leader in DTC creative with a proven track record in developing disruptive CGI-based innovative visualizations and teams. She developed Wayfair's 3D program, earning the 2018 Founder's Award for Innovation. She combines her expertise in traditional retail with her unique ability to bridge marketing, product, engineering, creative, and executive teams.
Recognized as a leader in retail's 3D viz space, Jane has spoken at prominent events like NRF and helped to launch of Khronos’ 3D Commerce group.

Amreeta Mazumudar, Head Human Resources
Amreeta brings 17 years of experience working with large global technology led product companies and startups, driving cross-functional teams to achieve complex business solutions and growth. In her experiences, she has been instrumental in driving talent and branding strategies, and DEI initiatives to create a culture of innovation and inclusion. She has held leadership positions with Google, Adobe, Samsung and Oracle.
She also founded Bleuming Technology, an HR analytics company. Outside work, she enjoys traveling, seafood, and water sports.

Vanessa Blackburn, Vice President — Commerce
Vanessa has 20 years of experience in enterprise relationship selling and partnership management, focusing on early-stage startups and strategic acquisitions. She has significantly impacted industry leaders like Visa, Salesforce, and Pitney Bowes.
Passionate about coaching emerging talent, Vanessa excels at building authentic connections that foster long-term partnerships. She enjoys being a dedicated wife and mother of two, participating in youth sports, and spending time at their Lake Erie home.

Surabhi Verma, Head Brand & Communications
Surabhi has over 12 years of experience in consultancy and high-growth start-ups, starting her career at KPMG before moving to WeWork, Zomato, Nowfloats, and Garage Society, where she collaborated with CXOs to drive productivity.
At Avataar, she focuses on growth by managing high-priority programs and streamlining strategies, while also enhancing the brand through PR initiatives. An ISB graduate and St. Stephen's alumna, Surabhi enjoys gardening and binge-watching OTT content in her spare time.

Shubham Goel, Research Scientist
Shubham is a 3D Computer Vision Researcher with a PhD from UC Berkeley, where he worked with Prof. Angjoo Kanazawa and Prof. Jitendra Malik at the intersection of computer vision, geometry, and machine learning. His research has enabled 3D reconstruction of humans, animals, and objects from photos/videos. He was also a Visiting Researcher at Meta.
Shubham earned his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from IIT Bombay and represented India, winning a Silver Medal at the 46th International Chemistry Olympiad in Vietnam. Outside of research, he enjoys exploring eateries, playing board games, climbing, and surfing.

Shubham Jain, Head Avataar Reality Labs
Shubham is a builder at heart. Before joining Avataar, he founded a startup that helped B-School professors use Machine Learning and Computer Vision for research, serving five of the top 10 global B-Schools. He also explored computational creativity in paintings at HEC Paris.
He leads Avataar Reality Labs, tackling challenges in deep learning, computer vision, and graphics to promote a 3D-first digital world. A behavioral science enthusiast, he has traveled across India to study the field. When not working, he enjoys sipping Java chips at local cafes and attending live music across the globe.

Hannes Piltz, Senior Director Operations
Hannes brings over 15 years of leadership in e-commerce content operations, seamlessly combining operational excellence with creative innovation. He excels at integrating cutting-edge technology with a deep understanding of creative demands. As Associate Director at Wayfair, Hannes led high-volume 3D imagery pipelines, delivering scalable, high-quality visual media solutions.
His experience also includes managing e-commerce photo studios for Amazon and leading content production for top fashion brands like Adidas, Versace, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss. With expertise in 2D, 3D, video, and AI production, Hannes consistently delivers cost-efficient, high-impact solutions that shape the future of interactive shopping experiences.

Prashanth Aluru
Prashanth is an investor and advisor to disruptive start-ups in the technology and digital space, playing a key role in shaping Avataar's strategy and global scale-up. Previously, he led Strategy for Facebook in India and oversaw investments in Meesho and Unacademy. Prashanth was a partner at both Kalaari Capital and Bain & Company.
Prashanth holds an MBA from London Business School and a B.Tech (Hons.) from IIT Kharagpur.

Mr. Shailesh Lakhani is a Managing Director at Sequoia Capital India. At Sequoia he primarily focuses on investments in consumer technology, fintech and SaaS companies.

John is a seasoned digital evangelist with over 32 years of experience in the Retail and Consumer Goods industries. He has held key roles as a consultant, technologist, operator, and executive, focusing on innovation.
John served as Chief Digital and Technology Officer at both Gap Inc. and Williams-Sonoma Inc., overseeing technology, product management, data analytics, and digital strategy. He graduated from Santa Clara University, where he was active in the Retail Management Institute.

Elizabeth is a change-driven leader passionate about mission-driven, disruptive businesses. As CEO of Stitch Fix, she propelled growth through direct buy capabilities and global expansion. She founded and led Bain & Company's Digital Practice, driving digital transformations and reshaping the industry.

Sandeep Grover
Sandeep is a seasoned business and product leader with a long history of building and launching customer-centric products globally. Currently, he is the head of Core Experience at TikTok. He has a diverse background across industries such as Ecomm, Ads, Payments, Trust & Safety. He spent more than 20 years working across tech platforms, including Amazon, GoDaddy, and YouTube.

John has spent his career optimizing omni-channel and supply chain strategies for retail, distribution, and manufacturing. He is VP of Product Management in Nike's Demand & Supply Management organization, driving digital innovation. John joined Nike via the acquisition of Celect, where he was CEO. Previously, he was VP of Marketing and Product Management at Endeca, acquired by Oracle, and he started his career at Deloitte Consulting.
John holds a BA in Economics and Computer Science from Boston College and a master’s from Harvard Business School.

Timothy Lee
Tim is a startup founder and global angel investor. He is the CEO of UP Audio, a podcast growth platform, and previously founded Avid AI, a mobile sports app acquired in 2018.
As a former partner at Sequoia Capital, he invested in early-stage mobile and cloud startups and served on several boards. Before Sequoia, Tim worked at Google and McKinsey & Company in London.
He holds an MBA from Stanford and a Master's in Electrical and Information Engineering from Cambridge University.

Chung-Man Tam
Chung is a product technology executive, entrepreneur, and angel investor. He is Chief Product Officer at Coalition, the leading provider of security and cyber insurance. He was previously SVP of Product Development at Affirm, expanding their BNPL suite to Amazon and Shopify. Chung has also worked at AdMob, Chartboost, Google, Yahoo!, 2nd Address, and Sequoia Capital.
Chung received a B.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University and M.S. in Human Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University.

Manish Jindal
Manish is a GTM executive with over 22 years of experience in sales, marketing, and revenue operations at companies like Cloudflare, Splunk, Lattice Engine, and Dell. As a founding member of Cloudflare's Go-to-Market team, he scaled the business from $1M to $1B in less than 8 years, building PLG, Inside Sales, and Field Sales from scratch. He currently leads the Developer Platform business and self-serve sales at Cloudflare.
Manish holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and an MS in Management Information Systems from Texas A&M University.
